Gin’s future, like Bourbon and Tequila before it, seems to lie in premiumization. Brands priced above $25 a 750-ml. bottle generally outperformed their lower priced competition in 2020 and the majority of leading super-premium brands posted growth. Overall, the dozen leading gin brands above $25 a 750-ml. grew by 11.3% to 859,000 cases, according to Impact Databank, with nine of the 12 leading brands growing, two declining, and one flat. The higher end of the category is undoubtedly a bright spot for gin.

Twenty-five years after releasing his hit song “Gin & Juice,” Snoop Dogg is launching his own gin brand for fans to sip on.
Snoop Dogg announced Wednesday his partnership with Trusted Spirits and Prestige Beverage Group to launch his own gluten-free and “laid back” liquor brand, Indoggo Gin, “that’s smooth like the D.O. double G.”
The $30 bottles are expected to launch first in California in late September, then continue across the U.S. through early 2021.

Snoop Dogg, Prestige Beverage Group, and Trusted Spirits have teamed up to create Indoggo, a new strawberry-flavored gin. Indoggo will launch in California in September through Gallo Sales Company. The plan is to gradually launch the gin through the fall and winter and reach national distribution by early 2021 via Prestige’s distribution network, which also includes RNDC, Johnson Brothers, Breakthru, Empire, Heidelberg, and Martignetti Companies. Indoggo will retail for around $30 a 750-ml.
“The idea began when Keenan Towns (of Trusted Spirits) hired Snoop as a brand ambassador for Tanqueray gin,’ said Scott Schilling, CMO at Prestige. “When Keenan left Diageo in 2018 he went to Snoop and the two agreed to bring Snoop’s idea to life.”

The hip-hop icon has announced that he is “finally” releasing Indoggo Gin, which would appear to get its name from a portmanteau of “Dogg” and “indo,” the substance Snoop proclaimed to be smoking while “rollin’ down the street” in the lyrics to his famed Doggystyle track, “Gin & Juice.” And while Snoop has put his name on alcohol before—he announced his own brand of wine this past April—this new gin is also being billed as “his first owned and operated alcohol project.”
